Gurmat Therapy Advanced Postgraduate Programme 2026–2028:
A Transformational Journey in Human Potential and Holistic Health

Bridging Science, Consciousness & Spirituality
"Health begins within the mind, those ignorant of the mind are ignorant about health"
- Founder: Davinder Singh
Panesar
 Gurmat Therapy® is grounded in Gurmat Psychology, Gurmat Philosophy and Gurmat Metaphysical Science. It offers a sophisticated approach to human psychology, emotion, cognition, behaviour, motivation and consciousness, alongside contemplative practices intended to support mental, emotional, physical and transpersonal wellbeing.

Gurmat Therapy is more than a collection of therapeutic techniques. It is an integrated system of education, experiential inquiry and human development that brings together ancient wisdom, contemplative practice and contemporary knowledge.

The programme is designed for people who wish to examine conditioning, deepen self-awareness, explore holistic health and cultivate a more conscious and self-responsible way of living.

What Makes Gurmat Therapy Distinctive

Gurmat Therapy is distinguished by its foundation in the non-dual, consciousness-based ontology of Guru Nanak.

Rather than reducing a person solely to biology, cognition, behaviour, diagnosis or social identity, GT understands the human being as an interconnected expression of consciousness involving mind, body, emotion, identity, relationship, meaning and transpersonal experience.

It is:

  • consciousness-based, recognising consciousness as foundational to lived experience;

  • non-dual, inquiring into the apparent separation between self, others and existence;

  • ontological, exploring the nature of being and the one having the experience;

  • non-reductionist, approaching the human being as an interconnected whole;

  • decolonised, allowing Gurmat wisdom to be understood through its own foundations rather than being reduced entirely to Western psychological categories; and

  • experiential, placing disciplined first-person inquiry alongside intellectual study.

Gurmat Therapy does not reject science, evidence or critical thinking. It widens the field of inquiry by including embodied, contemplative, relational and first-person knowledge.

Important Programme and Award Status

Please read this section before applying.

Gurmat Therapy is an independent specialist education and professional-development provider. It is not a university and does not hold UK degree-awarding powers.

Successful completion of this programme leads to the:

Advanced Postgraduate Award in Gurmat Metaphysical Science and Psycho-Spiritual Psychology

This is an independent professional and educational award issued by Gurmat Therapy through its internal academic, assessment and quality-assurance framework.

The programme and award are:

  • not a Master of Science or MSc;

  • not a UK-recognised degree;

  • not an Ofqual-regulated Level 7 qualification;

  • not awarded or validated by a university; and

  • not an automatic licence, statutory registration or entitlement to practise in a regulated profession.

The pathway is internally benchmarked by GT against selected master’s-level academic expectations associated with Level 7 study. This refers to the intended depth of learning, critical inquiry, research and assessment. It does not formally place the programme or award at Level 7 within a regulated UK qualifications framework.

Applicants who require a recognised degree, regulated qualification, professional registration or academic credit should confirm their requirements with the relevant organisation before enrolling.

A Profoundly Experiential Approach

Gurmat Therapy is an integral system of psycho-spiritual education and experiential development that brings together:

  • Gurmat; the wisdom and teachings of the Sikh Gurus, mystics and Bhagats;

  • Mind–Body–Heart Understanding through Hridya Medicine; exploring embodied consciousness and the relationship between mind, emotion, physiology and experience;

  • Consciousness Studies; investigating the nature and dimensions of human awareness; and

  • Positive and Transpersonal Psychology; exploring development beyond the conditioned personal self.

Participants are invited to examine their experience through contemplation, self-inquiry, reflection and practical application.

Former students have reported meaningful changes in self-awareness, resilience, relationships, purpose and their understanding of health. Individual experiences and outcomes vary, and the programme does not promise to diagnose, treat or cure any physical or mental health condition.

Anyone experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma or another health condition should seek support from an appropriately qualified healthcare professional where required. The programme is not a replacement for medical care, psychological treatment or emergency support.

Beyond Therapy: A Wider Understanding of Healing

Gurmat Therapy offers an integral map of human experience, holistic wellbeing and psycho-spiritual development.

It invites participants to explore embodied consciousness, conditioned identity, self-inquiry and the actualisation of human potential. Healing is approached not simply as symptom reduction, but as a possible process of recognition, integration, responsibility and transformation.

Students develop their understanding of the GT framework and its application to personal development and, where appropriate, their existing professional or community roles. Completion of the programme does not by itself qualify a person to provide regulated healthcare, counselling, psychotherapy or psychological services.

An Advanced Postgraduate Programme in Gurmat Psycho-Spiritual Psychology and Metaphysical Science

The programme explores three interrelated dimensions of health:

  • Physical health — developing an understanding of the relationship between mind, body, behaviour and lived experience;

  • Mental and emotional health — exploring awareness, resilience, compassion and self-regulation; and

  • Transpersonal health — examining consciousness, meaning, connectedness and self-actualisation.

This is not a conventional university programme. It is an independent and advanced immersion in direct experience, critical self-inquiry, applied wisdom and psycho-spiritual development. Its distinctive character does not make it exempt from clarity, ethical responsibility or academic discipline. Participants are expected to engage critically with the teachings, their own experience and the programme’s assessment requirements.

A Journey of Deep Learning and Embodiment

The programme includes:

  • 12 one-day workshops — core teaching, discussion and contemplative practice;

  • four or more residential retreats — sustained experiential inquiry and development;

  • more than 180 hours of taught learning — scientific, philosophical, ontological and applied study;

  • approximately 80–100 hours of structured independent study; and

  • more than 300 hours of Gurmat integral experiential practice — including meditation, self-inquiry, emotional awareness, personal development and transpersonal exploration.

Participants may also be required to complete reflective work, experiential mapping, written assignments, supervised development and a substantial dissertation or final research project.

Successful completion is based upon meeting GT’s published attendance, learning, experiential, assessment and research requirements. Attendance alone does not result in the award.

The programme is designed for seekers, health professionals, therapists, wellbeing practitioners, educators and people committed to sustained self-inquiry.

Where applicants already hold professional qualifications, GT learning may complement their existing work. It does not replace the registration, training, supervision or insurance required by their profession.

A Developing Legacy of Transformation

Participants and graduates have applied their learning to personal development, contemplative education, holistic wellbeing, community support and consciousness-based inquiry.

Their work contributes to an emerging field that seeks to understand health and human potential without reducing human experience to isolated symptoms or material processes alone.

GT regards transformation as an individual and continuing process. It does not guarantee particular psychological, spiritual, health, employment or professional outcomes.

The programme offers an opportunity to participate in the continuing development of a distinctive Gurmat-based, consciousness-centred and decolonised approach to human experience.

Re-defining Health, Wellbeing & Being Human

Gurmat therapy: evidence based authentic decolonised approach to psychology and therapy.

FOUNDER & DIRECTOR

Davinder (Dav) Panesar BSc (Hons) MRSC MCIM MSc

Davinder Singh Panesar is a pioneering consciousness scientist, chemist and microbiologist, transpersonal psychologist, and internationally recognised authority in consciousness-based psycho-spiritual health and human transformation. He holds a Master’s degree in Consciousness Studies & Transpersonal Psychology and is the founder and architect of Gurmat Psychology® and Gurmat Therapy® - a fully realised, non-dual science of consciousness rooted in Guru Nanak’s ontological revelation.

With over 35 years of professional experience, Dav Panesar is a leading specialist in mind–heart–body medicine (Hridya Medicine) and a global pioneer of Right Mindfulness and contemplative, consciousness-centred health interventions. His work integrates psychoneuroimmunology, transpersonal psychology, embodied contemplative science, and Gurmat ontology to address the root causes of human suffering, fragmentation, and dis-ease.

He is widely recognised for redefining health; not as symptom management or ego-optimisation, but as ontological coherence, where physical, mental, emotional, and psycho-spiritual wellbeing emerge naturally through alignment with consciousness (Surat), Naam, and Hukam. His work moves beyond Western psychological paradigms, offering a decolonised, evidence-informed framework for sustainable healing, self-regulation, and human flourishing.

Over three decades, Dav Panesar has developed, taught, and refined consciousness-based therapeutic models through thousands of individuals, international programmes, postgraduate education, retreats, and clinical-grade psycho-spiritual work. This body of work has earned him international respect and made his approach highly sought after by clinicians, educators, researchers, and seekers worldwide.

He is the founder of Gurmat Psychology®, a sophisticated Fifth-Force psycho-spiritual framework that transcends the limitations of Western psychology by restoring consciousness as the ground of being, health, and identity. Gurmat Psychology® offers a complete model of human development, healing, and transformation - integrating body, mind, emotion, physiology, and transpersonal realisation within a single ontological architecture.

The Flame Centre’s highly effective interventions are grounded in the Gurmat Psychospiritual Human Health Model, developed by Dav Panesar. This model fundamentally redefines Health, Wellbeing, and Being Human, offering a coherent, compassionate, and future-facing science of consciousness for individuals and society in an age of psychological, existential, and spiritual crisis.
